On November 20th – 21st, 2023, the Armed Forces Academy of GEN. M. R. Stefanik (AFA) was visited by Quality Assurance Team of Experts (QA ToE) from Headquarters of Allied Command Transformation (HQ ACT), whose task was to evaluate compliance with NATO quality standards within the entire AFA and to extend the institutional accreditation by next 6 years.
AFA has been a NATO-accredited Training and Education Facility since 2018. NATO accreditation is issued for 6 years exclusively to education and training facilities (ETFs) that demonstrate strict adherence to NATO quality standards (QA) in the sense of the BiSC 075-007 directive on education and individual training (E&IT).
The purpose of quality assurance (QA) within NATO's E&T is to provide confidence to all stakeholders that the execution of E&IT activities will satisfy the requirements and there will be an acceptable level of quality in terms of delivery. Based on the NATO ETEE policy (MC0458/3), the accreditation of education and training facility (ETF) is the responsibility of the HQ SACT, which, in order to verify compliance with NATO quality standards, sends Quality Assurance Team of Experts (QA ToE) to proceed an evaluation of the given state.
Vice-rectors of AFA as well as the Chief of International Courses Department of AFA presented to the ToE application of all NATO Quality Standards under the conditions of AFA in individual areas - Leadership and Management, Education and Training and Contribution to NATO, as well as their specific application into processes at AFA.
The final decision on re-accreditation will be officially announced to AFA in April 2024, however, during the final evaluation, the Chairman of the Team of Experts (QA ToE) stated that the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS JFT), who is responsible for the field of accreditation of ETFs, will be recommended with a proposal on the extension of accreditation for another 6 years.
