The sixth Annual Discipline Conference for the discipline “Operations Planning, Operations Assessment and Alternative Analysis” (OPOAAA) was held on 15th and 16th April 2026 at Kromhout Barracks in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The Department Head (DH) for this discipline is the NATO Command and Control Centre of Excellence (C2COE). This discipline is one of many disciplines within NATO’s Global Programming that oversee the quality of education, training and exercise evaluation processes in line with NATO quality standards.
This year’s conference welcomed more than 30 participants – officers, specialists and managers from various institutions that contribute to the discipline with their education and training programs, with the aim of strengthening interoperability within the Alliance.
Armed Forces Academy of General M. R. Stefanik was represented at the conference by LTC Miroslav Majtner, as the acting chief of International Courses Department, which has NATO certified courses related to planning of military operations at the operational level (IPJO - Introduction to the Planning of Joint Operations and COPC - Comprehensive Operations Planning Course) in its portfolio, and which quality is evaluated by the DH for OPOAAA.
During the conference, the fulfillment of tasks from the previous period, the current status of re-certification of existing courses, as well as the plan of activities of the participating educational institutions for the next period, were evaluated, taking into account current challenges related to the dynamically changing security environment.
